What you need to know about Chania

Chania is, together with Rethymno one of the famous cities on Crete. With around 60.00 inhabitants, this town is also given the nickname of Venice of Greece. Chania has a picturesque old quarter with houses in warm colors and blossoming flowers decorating the little alleys. This city has its very own charm and some people even say that Chania is the nicest one in all of Greece.

Chania is particularly famous for the Venetian harbor from the 14th century, as well as the narrow streets and taverns near the water. A lighthouse marks the entry of the harbor and shows the influences of Venetian, Egyptian and Osman periods.
